Abstract: 

Introduction: DENTAL EROSION is chemical loss of tooth structure without the involvement of bacteria that is steadily spreading. At an advanced stage, the teeth become hypersensitive or the esthetics is affected. The aim of this review article is to introduce DENTAL EROSION, and giving information about its diagnosis, prevention and therapy.Review report: This review carried out by use of searching in various databases including Pubmed and ISI Web of Science from 1980 to 2010 on combination of the terms ‘DENTAL EROSION, treatment and prevention.Results: The interplay of chemical, biological and behavior factors is crucial and helps to explain why some individuals exhibit more EROSION than others. The erosive potential of erosive agents, including acidic drink or foodstuffs, depends on chemical factors. Instructions related to prevention involve use of chewing gum or rinsing with sodium bicarbonate, DENTAL adhesive or fluoride containing materials.Discussion: As a result of the improvements in composite restorative materials and in adhesive techniques, it has become possible to rehabilitate eroded dentitions in a less invasive manner.Taking into account several investigations ceramic and composite materials show good durability under acidic conditions.

Abstract: 

Introduction. DENTAL EROSION is a multifactorial lesion (acids, nutrition consisting of sour lemon, soft drinks and alchole) and is result of gradual dissolution of DENTAL tissue according a mechanicochemical procedure. The purpose of this study is evaluation the prevalence of DENTAL EROSION in battery workers as a high risk job in Isfahan city.Methods. In this study, 332 battery worker were selected randomly. They were between 15-65 years old. each person examined and had to fill a questionnair separately. The results were analyzed by the SPSS software.Results. 27.1 percent of patients had DENTAL EROSION in buccal and lingual surfaces. Severity and frequency of DENTAL errosion was related to age and work exerience and nutrition (sour lemon, soft drink and alcohole). There wasn"t any relationship between DENTAL plaque DENTAL EROSION.Discussion. The results of this study accomodates partially or fully other studies results. It is needed to arrange programs to aware the battery workers of acid dangers and its effects on teeth and respiratory system.

Abstract: 

Background: In recent years, the use of mouthwashes containing green tea (GT) extract has been reported to prevent tooth decay. In laboratory studies, GT has been shown to be effective in controlling DENTAL plaque and EROSION. The aim of this review study was to evaluate the effectiveness of GT extract in controlling tooth decay and EROSION in randomized clinical trials. Methods: By searching related keywords in the Scopus, PubMed, and WOS (Web of Science) databases, as well as searching for related studies in the Google Scholar database randomized clinical trial ( RCT) studies published in English by the end of 2019 were extracted. Then, eligible studies were carefully reviewed and the required data were extracted. Results: A total of 12 eligible studies were included in the study. The inclusion criteria of the study were human RCT studies, English language, and GT intervention. The exclusion criteria of the study were lack of negative (placebo) or positive control group, studies examining the effect of GT derivatives, oral diseases such as periodontal disease, people undergoing orthodontic treatment, use of antibiotics at least two weeks before the study, incomplete methodology, defects in the results, and lack of access to the full text of articles. The number of subjects was 246 in the GT group, 157 in the placebo group, and 132 in the positive control group (sodium fluoride, chlorhexidine, neem extract, and probiotic). Eleven studies used GT mouthwash and one study used toothpaste containing GT extract. In studies with placebo, GT showed a significantly better effect on DENTAL plaque, oral pH, modulation of DENTAL EROSION, and reduction of the number salivary S. mutans and lactobacilli colonies. Additionally, GT had a similar and comparable effect to positive control groups in modulating the above-mentioned indices. Conclusion: GT extract can show anti-cariogenic and anti-erosive effects. Larger randomized clinical trials are needed to support our findings.
